When Faith Feels Complicated

For many survivors, faith is deeply personal. But after abuse, faith can also feel confusing or even painful.

You may find yourself asking:

  • “Where was God when this happened?”
  • “Why did He allow it?”
  • “Did I do something wrong?”

These questions are valid.

Abuse is not from God and what happened to you was not your fault.

In some settings, survivors are told to “just pray and move on” or to forgive quickly without processing their pain. This can make healing harder, not easier.

God does not rush your healing.
He does not shame your pain.

It is okay if:

  • Your faith feels shaken
  • You feel angry or distant
  • You need time before engaging spiritually again

Healing spiritually is a journey.

You can reconnect with God in ways that feel safe and honest for you, through quiet reflection, prayer (when ready), or simply allowing yourself to be held in His presence without words.

You are not abandoned.
